Greetings to MilitantÕs second annual
meeting
June 6, 2009
Dear Raymond and all the comrades of Militant,
Thank you for meeting today to consider
affiliation to the Workers' International Network. So far we number just a few comrades
in a handful of countries, but the affiliation of your dynamic, principled and
highly respected group will be a real source of inspiration for us all. All our
comrades will feel pride at your expression of confidence, and at the ideas,
talent and experience that you will share with us.
Thank you too for contributing to, translating. reading and discussing our document Preparing For Revolution. We do not consider this document the last word, but on the contrary as just the opening of a discussion among us all on the tasks and prospects ahead. What distinguishes us more than anything else from other left groupings is our appreciation of the new tasks that face revolutionary socialists today: neither to set ourselves up as yet another little self-styled "Bolshevik" vanguard party, nor to liquidate our heritage into an amorphous anti-capitalist front, but to participate in every campaign and struggle to which we can gain access and at the same time to formulate clear ideas and perspectives. That is the closest application in modern conditions of the tasks set out in The Communist Manifesto in 1848, and the way forward towards the birth of a new mass workers' International.
With comradely greetings,
Roger Silverman
